UWRF's event record says Kampala and Wakiso wheelchair rugby clubs participated in the 2025 National Disability Sports Gala in Masaka. Their presence placed the developing game inside one of Uganda's broadest gatherings of disability sport.
Daily Monitor reported that the five-day gala took place at Muteesa I Royal University and brought universities, secondary schools, and community teams together across athletics, ball games, combat sports, archery, and other disciplines.
Participation, visibility, and talent
The gala has rotated through districts and regions since 2010. Its value goes beyond medals: participants discover other athletes, families see sporting possibilities, and organisers can identify talent that may otherwise remain outside formal pathways.
For wheelchair rugby, playing at a multisport gala helps clubs demonstrate the game, build relationships with the wider Paralympic movement, and learn what is required to stage the sport in different locations.
Two clubs carrying the programme
Kampala and Wakiso represented the federation's growing club base. Their participation also highlighted the need for more chairs, officials, safe courts, and regional training so that future galas can involve more communities.
UWRF welcomes photographs, verified match records, and participant names from the wheelchair rugby programme so this archive can become more complete.
